Almaaqal University’s research vision is to stay on the leading edge of technology, and focus on sustainability. Its main area of research is in sustainable energy sources. The focus is on increasing efficiency, and therefore the sustainability, of energy sources. This includes improving the current energy sources, and identifying and optimising new renewable sources that will help Iraq and the world to move to a new age.
The mission is to provide an advanced, integrated, and realistic educational and training program that enables researchers to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills to work within a comprehensive research team, develop effective and trustworthy research approaches, instill values and a culture of scientific curiosity that fosters continuous learning among researchers through research teams.
The primary focus of Almaaqal University is on sustainability. Almaaqal University believes sustainability can, and should be extended to all fields of research. Disciplines, like medicine, oral health, well-being, business, and others that contribute to living, are equally important to ensuring sustainability.
Almaaqal University’s research areas are growing, and the key objectives are:
- to encourage and conduct scientific research that supports the educational process in different medical fields such as dentistry, pharmacy and laboratory medicine, and in engineering disciplines like petroleum, civil, and control & computing.
- to provide research degrees in business, media, management, law and social sciences.
- to collaborate with governmental institutions and establish twining programs that enhance the field, share knowledge and grow expertise.
- to collaborate with regional and international institutions, thus strengthening community participation by creating links with research institutions.
- to develop scientific research sources and databases, technological equipment, library as well as fully equipped laboratories.
- to support research activities in the colleges and departments in line with the needs of the local and national community.
- to motivate researchers to find acceptable/reasonable solutions to the problems associated with petroleum production and industries.
- to establish a research institute that focuses on petroleum and petroleum export management.
- to develop a research fund that supports and encourages research by faculty members.
- to gain accreditation and recognition by national, regional and international research bodies in each field of research.
